Skin-Sinking Formula

how silk works on your skin

Botanical oils don't perform on the surface. They absorb, warm, and shift with your skin's chemistry until the scent becomes unique to you.

1

IT ABSORBS RATHER THAN SITS

The base is certified organic jojoba, technically a liquid wax, not an oil, which means it absorbs into skin rather than sitting on top of it. No greasiness. No residue. Just scent that's part of your skin.

2

THE SCENT OPENS AS IT WARMS

Bergamot and lavender lift first, clean, bright, present. Then the heart comes forward: ambrette seed (a natural musk from hibiscus seeds), cedarwood atlas, a thread of clary sage. These are the notes that start to respond to your body heat and become yours.

3

THE BASE SETTLES AND STAYS

Amyris wood, vanilla absolute, and benzoin are your anchor. They're slow and skin-close. What's left after an hour isn't perfume in the traditional sense, it's a warmth that sits right at the skin. The kind of scent that makes people lean closer.

4

IT CHANGES WITH YOU

No two people smell Silk the same way. Your skin's pH, warmth, and chemistry interact with every botanical compound. This isn't a flaw in natural perfumery, it's the whole point.

why silk?

  • For the Skin

  • For the Senses

Nourishes While It Scents

Jojoba mimics the skin's own sebum. It absorbs without clogging, conditions without coating, and carries the botanical compounds into skin rather than onto it.

Restores Microbiome Balance

Conventional perfumes are 70–90% alcohol. Silk is 0% alcohol. Nothing that evaporates before the scent even has a chance, and nothing that strips or dries your skin.

Eases Stress-Related Issues

Tocopherol (Vitamin E) is included as a natural antioxidant, it protects the botanical compounds and supports skin health at the same time.

The Natural Musk

Ambrette seed is one of the only true natural musks. Unlike synthetic musk (used in most commercial perfumes), it's skin-safe, skin-compatible, and genuinely warm rather than artificially 'clean.'

A Scent That Evolves

Botanical oils don't project the same way alcohol-based perfumes do. They settle into skin and evolve over time, opening bright, moving through the heart notes, landing somewhere soft and skin-close.

Genuinely Yours

Your skin chemistry, pH, and warmth all affect how botanical compounds develop. Silk will smell slightly different on you than anyone else. That's not a limitation, that's the whole point of wearing a natural scent.

frequently asked questions

Q: What is Ambrette seed and why is it in here?

A: Ambrette seed is a natural musk extracted from the seeds of the hibiscus plant (Hibiscus abelmoschus). It's one of the only genuinely natural musks available, warm, slightly powdery, and skin-compatible in a way that synthetic musks aren't. It's the core of Silk's scent identity.

Q: How is this different from conventional perfume?

A: Two main things. First, there's no synthetic fragrance, every scent compound in Silk is botanically derived and named on the label. Second, it's oil-based, not alcohol-based. Conventional perfumes are typically 70–90% alcohol, which evaporates (sometimes taking the scent with it) and dries out skin. Silk absorbs and nourishes at the same time.

Q: How long does the scent last?

A: Honestly, it varies. Botanical oil perfumes behave differently from alcohol-based ones, they don't project as loudly, but they stay skin-close longer. Most people find Silk lasts 3–5 hours. Applying over an unscented body oil extends wear significantly.

Q: It smells diffferent on me than in the bottle, is this normal?

A: That's completely normal and actually the whole point. Your skin's pH, warmth, and natural chemistry interact with botanical compounds and make the scent shift. Ambrette seed in particular responds to body heat. What you smell on your wrist is yours, nobody else will smell Silk exactly the same way.

Q: Is it safe for sensitive skin?

A: We recommend a patch test before first use, apply a small amount to the inner arm and wait 24 hours. All botanical compounds can cause reactions in some people; this is true of anything applied to skin. If you experience any redness or irritation, discontinue use. The formula contains no synthetic fragrance, no alcohol, and no known common irritants beyond standard essential oil cautions.

Q: Can I use this during pregnancy?

A: We'd recommend checking with your healthcare provider first. Some essential oils (including clary sage) are traditionally avoided during pregnancy. The amounts in Silk are very small, but we'd always rather you check than assume.

Q: Can I layer it with other products?

A: Yes! Applying it over an unscented body oil is actually the best way to make it last longer and settle more deeply. Avoid applying over strongly fragranced products as the scents will compete. It pairs beautifully with the SRC Body Nectars.
